Liability Insurance
Through its relationship with Flying Eagle Insurance Services (FEIS), the WSCA supports three commercial general liability insurance programs in most Western states: one is a “B+ rated” admitted carrier and two are “A rated” surplus line carriers. All have features tailored to residential construction contractors and sub-contractors. The WSCA utilizes a specially selected and trained distribution system of insurance agents who can accurately compare and communicate the benefits of our liability programs. As rated by AM Best, the insurance carriers are Specialty Underwriters Alliance, Inc. (SUA) which is rated B+, American Safety Insurance Company which is rated A- and United Specialty Insurance Company which is rated “A”. For further information about these programs, contractors and subcontractors should contact their insurance agents. Insurance agents and brokers should contact David Lambin at FEIS by mail at 1625 Highway 88, #401, Minden NV 89423, by telephone at 775-73-8707, by fax at 775-783-8879 or by email at david@lambin-insurance.com.
WSCA Learning Center
The WSCA Learning Center is a unique educational program available only to members. The program includes 12 separate courses, each dealing with some subject related to the problem of construction defect litigation in the building industry. The course recognizes that the role and responsibilities of general contractors has been significantly expanded in most states and hence includes material to address the broad range of subjects which they face. It is designed on the proactive premise that by better educating themselves on all of the various aspects of this subject, contractors and subcontractors alike will be better equipped to prevent claims from occurring and to deal with them if they do.
Residential Warranty
Warranties have become an increasingly important factor in the home building industry, both to home buyers as an assurance of product quality and to homebuilders as a means of protection from potential litigation. WSCA has teamed with a warranty corporation that is one of the nation’s leading residential warranty companies.
Insurance Premium Funding
One effective tool of cash management is spreading insurance premium over the term of the policy, thereby meeting insurance company requirements while preserving cash and/or credit balances for other short term needs. WSCA member contractors and sub-contractors can take advantage of a special plan with only 15% down, ten payments and a low rate 2% over prime.
Payroll Services
Many companies are finding that it makes sense to “farm out” the preparation of all payroll payments and documents, as well as the related tax reports, because of both the importance to its employees and the risk of inaccuracies in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. WSCA sponsors a company that specializes in the construction industry.
Workers Compensation Recovery
Many companies, especially in the construction industry, are being overcharged for workmen’s compensation and don’t know it. The WSCA has teamed with a team of work comp advisors who specialize in reviewing the data determining codes used, claims reported and other factors affecting workmen’s comp costs. Over 40% of its clients receive a refund, sometimes up to five years retro-actively. WSCA members pay no costs unless they receive a refund.
Fleet Management & Safety
Whether a company has only a few vehicles or a larger fleet, the cost of driver insurance is a major issue for companies in the construction industry. One of the nation’s foremost company in fleet management services offers special discounts to WSCA members who utilize its program of obtaining and providing feedback on employee driving.
Document Management/Wrap Administration.
Both individual builders and development companies putting together insurance wraps and mini-wraps face increasing time, costs and potential for errors in ensuring that all subcontractors have all the necessary insurance, licensing and other documentation - and that it is maintained in a current status and retained to protect against future lawsuits. The WSCA endorsed provider offers 10% discounts to WSCA members for document services. Members needing wrap administration assistance receive up to a $4,000 discount.
